To address this, WHO is planning to create a stockpile of human rabies vaccine to match a stockpile of dog rabies vaccine recently created by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
"WHO is seeking to better understand the unmet needs for human rabies vaccines, and the logistics to get these essential medicines to where they are needed most: to rural, underserved populations," says Dr Bernadette Abela-Ridder, WHO Team Leader of Neglected Zoonotic Diseases.
